Edward Timpson MP visited residents at Wychwood Village who are affected by the proposed Haddon Development on the Gorsty Hill Golf Course. This proposal is for 900 houses, shops, school and associated facilities.
Residents explained that they had bought homes in the Village specifically because it came with a golf course and country park, not because it might, literally, be engulfed by a development nearly three times larger than the Village itself.
Janet Clowes, Councillor for the Wybunbury Ward observed "This is a huge site in the open countryside that was specifically designed as a 'Concept Village' - a small compact settlement surrounded by countryside and green amenity space.
"The new application effectively destroys the reason Wychwood was developed at all. This site is not included as a strategic site in the emerging Local Plan and has an important ecological and social value."
