David Simcox has been selected as the Conservative Candidate for the Crewe West By-Election next month.
From Merrills Avenue to Queens Park Drive, Victoria Avenue to Alton Street, Stewart Street, Capesthorn Road to Langley Drive, and all the roads and communities in between – All are part of Crewe West Ward.
David explains his reasons for standing as the Crewe West representative on Cheshire east Council:
“I’ve lived in Crewe all my life, I have always called the West End of Crewe my home. I am deeply committed to our community, I see firsthand the challenges we face and I believe that together, we can turn things around”.
“During my time as a Citizens Advice Bureau advisor, I have helped people through difficult times, providing benefit checks, debt advice, and court liaison services. This experience taught me the importance of support and advocacy.”
As the Crewe West Councillor, David will use these important skills to help residents:
“I am committed to working for local residents to tackle issues such as potholes, litter, fly-tipping, parking problems, street lighting, and anti-social behaviour to make our area better for everyone”.
But of course, serving as a Borough Councillor also requires candidates to have a good understanding of their role in strategic decision-making.
With this in mind, David is very clear about how your vote will enable him to carry out the following commitments for all Crewe West residents:
“My Commitments
- Financial Stability: Our council faces a potential budget deficit of £12.8 million this year alone, (and potentially £40m over the next four years). As a business owner, I understand the importance of spending resources wisely, avoiding waste, and budgeting correctly. Your vote can help prioritise spending where it matters most to you and your family.
- Education Improvement: Several schools in Crewe have been rated “Requires Improvement” by Ofsted. Our children deserve better, and we need to ensure this trend does not affect other schools in Crewe West. The borough as a whole. now faces an £80m debt in relation to Special Educational Needs and in April, received an ‘Inadequate’ rating for the care of care leavers. Therefore, I will advocate for better funding and resources to ensure our children receive the quality education they deserve.
- Waste Management: The Labour council’s proposal for three-weekly bin collections is a serious concern. This decision risks increased rat infestations and other health hazards. I will stand up against this impractical proposal and fight for regular waste collections to ensure our community remains clean and safe.
- Housing Developments: Labour’s plan to reduce planning restrictions and increase housing will strain our already stretched services. I have worked tirelessly to make the Coppenhall Place Estate safer and better for all residents, advocating for better management and stricter enforcement of pre-conditions.”
