GO-TOO BUS HAS STARTED IN THE REMOTE WYBUNBURY PARISHES!
In 2020 the Government announced funding for Councils to promote sustainable rural public transport. Cllr Janet Clowes (Wybunbury), raised this important opportunity as a question at Full Council, following which Cheshire East applied and was successful in getting a share of the funding.
It was therefore infuriating that this ward was excluded from the initial programme when it was first started in 2021.
In August 2022, with help from Nantwich South Cllrs Andrew Martin and Peter Groves,, CEC Deputy Leader Craig Browne was asked to re-consider the route to include rural destination points (Bridgemere Garden Centre and Dagfields Craft Centre) which would enable Wybunbury Ward residents to access the bus to get to Nantwich and Audlem!
The service went live at the end of January.with ‘Road-shows taking place throughout February.
Cllr Clowes and Dr Kieran Mullan MP attended road-shows at Bridgemere and Dagfields and Cllr Clowes explained:
“I submitted maps and 11 potential pick-up points on the new route extension along Crewe Road, the A51 from the Boar’s Head to Bridgemere and the Hunsterson Road / Bridgemere Lane to Audlem. Nine stops have now been vetted with the final two due to come on-line next week.”
Dr Kieran Mullan MP said:
“This is a fantastic development providing a bookable service in parishes that currently have no public transport provision. Please investigate and use it. To date the original route has proved very successful. We hope the “Hatherton, Walgherton.Doddington Triangle” extension will be equally successful!”
The area covered has now been extended to Bridgemere Garden Centre and Dagfields Crafts and Antiques Centre.
The stop points in the local area now are:
Park Lane, Hatherton
Lodge Lane Junction, Hatherton
Oakes Corner, Hatherton
Heathfield House, Hatherton
Dagfields Craft & Antiques
Walgherton Crossroads
Bridgemere Primary School
Bridgemere Garden Centre
Crossroads of Pewit Lane & Hunsterson Road
Birchall Moss Lane
To mark the introduction, the Go-too team have launched a ‘+1’ promotion, which means that when you book, you can bring additional passengers with you at a reduced rate.
The flat rate fare is £3, or £2 for concessions, but when you add others to your transport booking, you pay the discounted price of £2 or £1.30 concessions for them. The offer is valid until 31 March 2023.
