Dr Kieran Mullan MP hosted a Commemorative ‘Community Tea’ at the Pickmere Bistro in Crewe.
Kieran explained: “It was great to end Parliament Week with my the community tea in memory of David Amess. I got to invite a small group of amazing people who make our communities a better place! There are so many others like them and I hope to make it bigger every year but thanks to:
Steve and Maggie from Crewe FC
who along with their 100+ other volunteers enable hundreds of young people to take part in sport.
David from Crewe Clean Team
who along with the rest of the volunteers help tackle litter that plagues so many places through monthly litter picks across Crewe.
Wendy from Jon Shaw Foundation
who turned a personal loss into a positive effort to raise funds to support siblings experiencing bereavement and raise awareness of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy along with providing equipment to families.
Sara and Liz from Nantwich Buddies
setup to help people during lockdown collecting shopping, medicines and still providing help to people to this day including a weekly coffee morning. They have expanded to other things like the vaccine clinics.
Connie and Helen from Haslington Support Group
setup to help people in lockdown as well but now making the whole village a nicer place to live with their regular village trails and work on Community Orchard.
Chris and Sue from Wybunbury Viral Kindness setup by Janet Clowes - Wybunbury Ward Councillor
as another lockdown group still helping rural residents across the villages and Hamlets now.
Dorothy and Denise from Friends of Crewe South Alleyways 1
who both enthusiastically said yes to me asking them to help transform their alleyway in Crewe and who have achieved so much and helped other alleyways do the same.
We can all play our part! Why not check out some of what these groups are doing and see if you want to help!
