The Rt Hon. Sajid Javid (Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport) with Edward Timpson MP, and Cllr Janet Clowes (Cabinet Member: Care & Health in the Community) joined the Cheshire Academy of Integrated Sports and Arts at Broad Street, Crewe.
The decommissioned Broad Street primary school was transferred to the Academy two years ago by the Conservative Cheshire East Council who also contributed to the re-modelling of the Building. Since then, the Academy has evolved into a thriving community resource, offering integrated sports, gymnastics, arts and dance to children and young people of all abilities, together with a community cafe, older people's lunch club, cookery courses, cinema club and IT coaching.
Sajid, Edward and Janet are pictured here with Jane Whetnall MBE (Chief UK Coach) and members of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Team, some of whom have been selected as part of the UK Team in this summer's Disability Olympics in the USA.
During their visit, Edward Timpson MP and Sajid Javid MP took the opportunity to play Boccia with the Academy Boccia Teams. Mr Timpson showed a natural talent and helped his team to victory!
